Good Times at Enderly

Dear Parent/Guardian

On Monday, August 21st, We will be in school during the eclipse. A release of participation form was sent home for students to observe the event. In order for students to participate in the outside activities, they must return the signed form giving them permission.

Enderly students will report to Enderly’s blacktop to observe the event. We will also livestream the event in the cafeteria for all students not released to go outside.

Below is a proposed list for activities on Monday:

1:30 – Students will report to their homeroom and participate in activities related to the solar eclipse.

2:00 – Students will report to Enderly’s blacktop (students with signed Release). All other students will meet in the cafeteria to watch the livestream.

2:50 – Students will report back to the cafeteria

3:00 – Car riders will be released.

3:45 – Bus riders will be released to ride Bus home.

Thanks for your cooperation during this extraordinary event.

Enderly Heights Elementary

Good Afternoon, BVCPS Family,

I believe by this time you have heard of the eclipse that will occur on Monday, August 21st from 1:13p.m. to 4:01p.m.

We are fortunate to have such an amazing educational opportunity happen within the school day. We have made plans for most of our students with the exception of all Kling students to have an opportunity to observe this occurrence with their teachers outside provided they have the approval from their parents. Kling students will be watching the event live streamed from their classrooms. If a parent wishes to check their student out of Kling, they may do so just like any other day.

We have purchased enough eclipse viewers from Spectrum Telescope which are made by American Paper Optics and are ISO12312-2 Certified. This company is listed as one of the reputable vendors of solar filters and viewers by the American Astronomical Society. We purchased glasses for all of the students and teachers at Enderly, the middle school and the high school so they can safely observe the eclipse as long as they return the parent permission form sent home to all students.

As a safety precaution, we will not release any of our schools until 3:45p.m. for bus riders. Parents may still pick up their children at regular dismissal time if they chose to do so. High School car drivers may also leave at regular time due to work schedules. I am choosing to do this so our bus riders will not be on the bus during the major portions of the eclipse. Students will NOT be permitted to take the safety glasses home because these special glasses must be used under adult supervision.
